Roofing and chimney work in Carlstadt
Carlstadt is a borough of two halves. Its older residential section sits on higher ground on the western side of town, with frame houses and two-families on compact lots. East of that, much of the borough lies in the Hackensack Meadowlands and is given over to warehouses, distribution buildings, offices and light industry, nearly all of them under large flat or low-slope roofs.
Asset Roofing & Chimney serves Carlstadt from Cliffside Park, a short drive across the Meadowlands. We handle flat and low-slope roofing on commercial and industrial buildings as well as shingle and flat roofs on homes and two-families, and we provide full chimney service for the residential side of town. We are licensed and insured, and estimates are free.
Housing in Carlstadt
The residential part of Carlstadt is an older, compact neighborhood of frame single-family homes and two-family houses, much of it built in the late 1800s and first half of the twentieth century, on narrow lots with pitched shingle roofs or low-slope roofs on the two-families. The Meadowlands portion of the borough is commercial and industrial: one- and two-story warehouses, distribution centers, flex buildings and offices with large flat roofs, many with rooftop HVAC units, skylights and roof hatches.
Weather and exposure
The Meadowlands are flat, open and low, so wind sweeps across them with little to slow it down, and large flat roofs catch the full force of nor'easters and summer storms. The area is also prone to flooding and high humidity. On the residential side, older homes deal with freeze-thaw on brick chimneys and the usual leaf and gutter issues, though tree cover is lighter than in the northern towns.
