Roofing and chimney work in Closter
Closter is a Northern Valley borough with a broad mix of housing. Older homes cluster around the small downtown, post-war colonials and split-levels fill many of the residential streets, and the eastern side of town rises toward the Palisades and Alpine, with larger homes on wooded lots. In recent decades, a good number of older houses have been replaced with larger new homes, so roofs of very different ages and designs sit side by side.
Asset Roofing & Chimney serves Closter from our base in Cliffside Park. We repair and replace asphalt shingle roofs, handle flat roofs on the commercial buildings in town, and provide the full range of chimney service. We are licensed and insured, and every estimate is free.
Housing in Closter
Closter has a varied single-family housing stock: older homes near the downtown, post-war colonials, capes, ranches and split-levels across much of the borough, and larger homes on wooded lots on the east side toward Alpine. Newer large houses built on the sites of older homes are found throughout the borough. Commercial buildings with flat roofs are concentrated in the downtown and along the main roads.
Weather and exposure
Closter is inland and fairly wooded, with mature trees over many roofs and heavier tree cover on the east side as the land rises toward the Palisades ridge. Falling limbs, leaf-filled gutters and damp, shaded slopes are the main exposures. Higher ground on the east side sees more wind. Winters bring freeze-thaw cycles that crack chimney crowns and ice dams on shaded eaves.
