Roofing and chimney work in Midland Park
Midland Park is a small, compact borough tucked between Wyckoff and Ridgewood in northwest Bergen County. Compared with its larger neighbors, it is more tightly built: older frame houses, some dating to the late 1800s and early 1900s, sit alongside post-war capes and ranches on modest lots, and a commercial strip along Godwin Avenue has storefronts and mixed-use buildings with flat roofs. It has the feel of an older village rather than a post-war suburb.
We serve Midland Park from our Cliffside Park base for shingle and flat roofing and chimney work. The older housing here calls for care: framing that has settled over a century, roofs that have been covered and re-covered, and soft old brick that needs the right mortar. Estimates are free, and we explain what we find honestly.
Housing in Midland Park
Midland Park mixes older and newer housing on smaller lots than much of northwest Bergen. Late-1800s and early-1900s frame houses, some with steep gables and front porches, share streets with 1940s and 1950s capes and ranches and some later infill. Mixed-use and commercial buildings with low-slope roofs line Godwin Avenue, and there are a few small apartment buildings.
Weather and exposure
The borough is inland and fairly sheltered, with mature trees over most residential streets. Leaf and branch debris, shaded slopes that stay damp and ice dams on older uninsulated attics are the main weather issues. Brooks running through the area can rise in heavy rain, and low spots near them stay damp. Freeze-thaw cycles work on the old brick chimneys and on any masonry repaired with incompatible materials.
