Roofing and chimney work in West Orange
West Orange stretches from the flat valley near Orange and East Orange up and over the First and Second Watchung ridges. Eagle Rock Reservation sits on the first ridge, and the township's residential areas climb steep lots on both mountains. Older sections nearest the valley have pre-war colonials and Tudors, while the developments farther west date largely from the 1950s through the 1980s.
That range of terrain and housing age means West Orange roofs face very different problems from one street to the next. Asset Roofing & Chimney provides roof repair, roof replacement and chimney repair across the 07052 ZIP code, on shingle and flat roofs, residential and commercial. We are licensed and insured, based in nearby Cliffside Park, and estimates are free.
Housing in West Orange
West Orange has pre-war colonials, Tudors and two-families in its older eastern sections, and post-war ranches, split-levels, colonials and townhouse developments on the ridges and western slopes. Steep lots are common, so many homes have walk-out lower levels, tall rear elevations and roofs that are hard to reach from the ground. Asphalt shingles dominate, with flat roofs on garages, additions and the commercial buildings along the main roads.
Weather and exposure
Homes on and near the Watchung ridges sit in the path of westerly winds with little to block them. Wind-driven rain, uplifted shingles and spalling chimney brick are more common there than in the valley. Mature trees shade many roofs and drop heavy debris in storms. Steep, wooded lots create shaded north slopes where snow lingers and ice dams form along the eaves.
