Roofing and chimney work in North Bergen
North Bergen sits on the Palisades directly south of Cliffside Park, where Asset Roofing & Chimney is based, so it is the closest Hudson County municipality to our office. The township is very dense, with blocks of two- to four-family frame and brick houses, most with flat roofs, climbing steep streets up and over the ridge. Larger apartment buildings and commercial properties along the main corridors add bigger flat roofs with rooftop equipment.
We repair and replace flat and shingle roofs across North Bergen, install skylights and roof hatches, and repair, reline and rebuild brick chimneys. We are licensed and insured, estimates are free, and because we are next door, getting to your building is easy.
Housing in North Bergen
North Bergen's housing is dominated by two- to four-family frame and brick houses on narrow lots, most with flat or low-slope roofs behind a front parapet or shallow pitched front, often attached or inches from the neighbor. Larger brick apartment buildings and commercial properties along the main avenues have bigger flat roofs with internal drains and rooftop HVAC. Nearly every older building has at least one brick chimney.
Weather and exposure
Much of North Bergen sits on the Palisades ridge, with steep streets and direct exposure to wind off the Hudson River and across the Meadowlands. Nor'easters hit parapets, coping and chimneys hard, and loose membrane edges lift quickly. Flat roofs pond when scuppers and drains clog. Buildings on the western slope toward the Meadowlands see different drainage and wind patterns than those on the crest.
