Roofing and chimney work in Long Hill
Long Hill Township occupies the southern tip of Morris County, made up of the villages of Millington, Stirling, Gillette, Meyersville and Homestead Park. The Passaic River forms its southern boundary, and its northern side borders the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, so much of the township is low, wet and heavily vegetated. The NJ Transit Gladstone Branch runs through the villages, and the older homes cluster near the stations, with postwar and newer subdivisions filling in between.
Asset Roofing & Chimney provides roof repair, roof replacement and chimney repair across Long Hill. We are based in Cliffside Park in Bergen County and serve all of North New Jersey. Estimates are free, and we are licensed and insured for both residential and commercial work.
Housing in Long Hill
Long Hill has village-era homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s near the stations in Stirling, Millington and Gillette, many of them simple farmhouses, foursquares and cottages. Postwar capes, ranches and split-levels make up much of the township, with larger colonials from the 1980s onward on bigger lots, and townhouse developments in a few areas. Small commercial buildings and some light industrial properties have flat or low-slope roofs.
Weather and exposure
The Great Swamp and the Passaic River lowlands keep the air damp and foggy, especially on still mornings, and many roofs sit under tall trees along wooded lots and stream corridors. Low areas near the river are subject to flooding. Winters bring snow and regular freeze-thaw cycles, and open land around the swamp and former farm fields gives wind a long run at some homes.
