Chimney Repair for Alpha chimneys
Alpha's older homes often still have their original brick chimneys, built for coal or oil heat and later adapted to gas, and many now serve a furnace or water heater rather than a fireplace. After a century of river-valley winters, the usual problems are worn mortar, cracked crowns, missing caps and flues that are no longer suited to the appliances venting into them. Postwar homes add simpler masonry chimneys with the same crown and flashing issues.
Asset Roofing & Chimney inspects, cleans, repairs, relines and rebuilds chimneys throughout Alpha. We repoint and waterproof masonry, rebuild crowns, install caps, rebuild flashing and install stainless-steel liners. We are licensed and insured, and estimates are free.
Alpha housing
Alpha's housing is compact and modest: early twentieth-century frame houses, some with steep gable roofs and original brick chimneys, mixed with capes, ranches and split-levels from the decades after World War II. Asphalt shingle covers most homes, often over porch roofs and additions with lower slopes. Commercial and light industrial buildings in and around the borough have flat or low-slope roofs.
Weather & exposure
Alpha sits on fairly open ground near the Delaware River valley, with fog and humid summers, cold winters and regular freeze-thaw cycling. Without the heavy tree cover of the northern townships, roofs see full sun and wind, which ages shingles on south and west faces and loosens edges and ridge caps during storms.
Repair, repoint or rebuild in Alpha
If your chimney still vents a furnace or water heater, the first priority is making sure the flue is sound and properly sized. We inspect it and recommend a stainless-steel liner where needed. Then we address the exterior: repointing, a new crown, a cap and flashing.
If the chimney no longer serves anything, you have choices: cap and maintain it, repair it to keep the house's character, or remove it below the roofline and close the roof. We explain the trade-offs honestly during the free estimate.
