Chimney Repair for Wood-Ridge chimneys
Most of Wood-Ridge's older homes have brick chimneys built for coal or oil and later converted to gas, often without relining. Two-families may have multi-flue chimneys. Chimneys on the exposed side of the ridge take wind-driven rain and lose caps in storms, and freeze-thaw cracks crowns and opens mortar joints everywhere.
We inspect, clean, reline, repoint, rebuild crowns, install caps, waterproof and reflash. Because we do both roofing and masonry, chimney leaks at the roofline get one diagnosis and one repair.
Wood-Ridge housing
Wood-Ridge's housing is mostly single-family homes from the 1920s through the post-war decades: capes, colonials, bungalows and some brick homes, along with two-family homes, on modest lots. Most have asphalt shingle roofs and brick chimneys; some two-families have low-slope roofs. Newer townhouse and apartment construction has been added on redeveloped industrial land, and small commercial buildings with flat roofs line the main roads.
Weather & exposure
Homes on the eastern side of the ridge look out over the flat, open Meadowlands, and wind crossing that open ground reaches roofs with little to slow it, particularly during nor'easters. The streets themselves are tree-lined, so leaf debris and branch strikes are part of the picture too. Freeze-thaw works on the many older brick chimneys.
Repair, repoint or rebuild in Wood-Ridge
If your chimney has lost its cap, has a cracked crown, loose brick or staining, have it inspected before the heating season. If your heating was converted to gas, ask about the liner.
Most problems are repairable without a full rebuild. Estimates are free and include photos.
