Roofing and chimney work in Maywood
Maywood is a small, mostly residential borough just west of Hackensack. Its streets are lined with single-family homes, a large share of them colonials, capes and similar houses from the decades before and after World War II, typically with steep asphalt shingle roofs, a single brick chimney and, on many lots, a detached garage at the end of the driveway. A small commercial and light-industrial section adds a handful of flat-roofed buildings.
Maywood is an easy drive from our Cliffside Park office. We handle shingle roof repair and replacement, flat roofs on the borough's commercial buildings, and chimney inspection and repair. On a compact borough like this, the work is usually about well-built older houses with specific, fixable problems, and we tell you plainly which ones matter.
Housing in Maywood
Maywood is predominantly single-family. Much of the housing stock consists of colonials, Cape Cods and other modest pitched-roof homes built roughly between the 1920s and the 1960s, on regular lots along tree-lined streets, many with detached garages. A small commercial and light-industrial area adds low-slope roofs, and there are a few small apartment and mixed-use buildings.
Weather and exposure
Maywood is inland and fairly sheltered, so wind is a moderate concern compared with the river and Palisades towns. The bigger factors are the mature street trees, which overhang many roofs, fill gutters and shade north slopes, and the age of the houses, which brings freeze-thaw wear on brick chimneys and ice dams on the short eaves of capes. Attics on many of these homes were built with little ventilation.
