Roofing and chimney work in Hackensack
Hackensack is the Bergen County seat and one of the most varied places we work. Within a few blocks you can go from a pre-war apartment building with a flat roof to a 1920s colonial with a slate-look shingle roof and a tall brick chimney, then on to a high-rise along the river. That mix is why we serve the city with both our shingle crews and our flat-roof crews, and why our chimney work there is so steady.
Our office in Cliffside Park is a short drive east, so Hackensack is well inside our everyday service area. We work on single-family homes in the residential blocks, two-family and small multifamily buildings near the downtown core, and commercial roofs along Main Street and the surrounding corridors. Whatever the building, the approach is the same: inspect first, explain what we found, and give you a free written estimate.
Housing in Hackensack
Hackensack has a dense, older housing stock. Much of it predates 1960: pre-war two-family homes and walk-up apartment buildings with flat roofs near the downtown core, older colonials and capes on the residential side streets, and a corridor of mid- and high-rise apartment buildings closer to the Hackensack River. Newer multifamily construction has been added downtown in recent years.
Weather and exposure
The city sits in the Hackensack River lowlands, so the low-lying blocks deal with flooding and chronic ground moisture rather than cliff-top wind. Older residential streets have mature trees that drop limbs and clog gutters. Flat roofs downtown collect ponding water after heavy summer thunderstorms, and winter freeze-thaw works on the many pre-war brick chimneys and parapet walls.
