Roofing and chimney work in New Milford
New Milford is a residential borough on the Hackensack River, surrounded by Oradell, River Edge, Teaneck, Bergenfield and Dumont. Most of its housing went up in the decades after World War II: capes, ranches, split-levels and colonials on modest lots. Over the years, a large share of those houses have been enlarged, with second stories added to ranches and capes, rear additions and dormers, so many roofs today are a combination of the original and the new.
We serve New Milford from our office in Cliffside Park, a short drive east. We repair and replace shingle roofs, handle flat roofs on the borough's commercial buildings and work on the brick chimneys most of these houses have. Estimates are free, and we explain plainly what we find.
Housing in New Milford
New Milford is largely post-war single-family housing: Cape Cods, ranches, split-levels and colonials from the 1940s through the 1960s, with some older homes. Many houses have been expanded with second-story additions, rear extensions and dormers. Commercial buildings with flat roofs line the main roads, and there are some garden apartments.
Weather and exposure
The Hackensack River runs along the western side of the borough, and low-lying areas near it have a history of flooding in heavy rain. Away from the river, the ground is gently rolling and moderately sheltered. Mature trees planted after the war now shade many roofs and fill gutters each fall. Freeze-thaw and ice dams on cape eaves are the main winter concerns.
